January 26, 2016 - Working mostly with pallet knife lately.  The speed of application seems to help since fatigue sets in so fast.  Building up my strength though.  Should be able tackle the larger canvas's again soon.  Thanks again for all the support since my Breast Cancer.  Read on for more info.

January 23, 2016.  Today I am updating my website after not doing so for almost a year.  You will see some dated entries that are here more as a timeline than the actual date they were placed here.  2015 will forever be remembered as the year I was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Joyfully I am thankful for my many blessings.  Not one moment of stress or sadness would have changed the data on the mammogram that showed the cancer…..be joyful and move through the steps necessary. I am very thankful for those who are purchasing work as you are directly helping me take care of my huge insurance deductible bills.  I hope to be able to bless others with helping them take care of their huge deductibles as these pieces of art sell.  Thanks to everyone.

January 21st, 2016 Update to Facebook about my progress.  Cancer lumpectomy surgery six months follow-up mammogram is set for February 19th!  Hard to believe it has been a full five months since my surgery.  Thanks to everyone for your prayers and well wishes.  And I’m very thankful for my insurance coverage, so far over $150K paid out for services in 2015. Sadly, I have a very high deductible though, and meeting that for last year and now starting 2016 with knowing there will be another $10K to meet before the insurance kicks in………the door is busting open for me to step out in faith to be an artist trying to meet my insurance deductibles by creating art.  I am going to keep my day JOB working with American Family Insurance, Tremaine Hill Agency….just doing what I need to do nights and weekends to meet my additional deductible bills.  Hopefully I will not lose many of my Facebook friends or bore you too much posting my art work that will be for sale and hopefully enough folks like what they see pieces they love and that they message me for details when they wish to purchase.  I will have this page connected to my website where items may be purchased from there also.  I am truly thankful for the gift of painting, drawing and photography and am excited and scared to death at the same time.  Your prayers are appreciated!

January 7th, 2016 Radiation Check-up day.  Doc says all looks good, very little scarring compared to some, and we scheduled the follow-up mammogram.

December 4, 5 & 6, 2015 CHRISTMAS with our kiddos @ Great Wolf Lodge!  We celebrate Christmas with the emphasis on being together!  Our five kids and their spouses and 14 if 16 grandchildren, our blended families bloom and grow like no other.  In 2015 we gained one son-in-law, his four children and one 17 year old classmate of our grandson who needed a place to live while his parent gets some things worked out.

November 2015 Hubby takes me on a vacation; a most beautiful time spent together, just the two of us, driving from Smithville to Florida, Mississippi and back up to Oklahoma!  A photographer’s dream to explore these amazing locations!

October 2015 Back to driving myself to work . Did I mention that I live 45 minutes from work?

September 1, 2015 back to work full time in the insurance office in Blue Springs, first week, hubby drove me to work and picked me up, he did not trust the pain pills with driving, good thing as I slept most of the way to work and all the way home.  When they say that radiation leaves you exhausted, believe it.  Awake to sleep in just a minute.

August 29th, 2015 at the end of the second radiation appointment for the day, it was time to remove the Savi device forever….you would think it could be removed easily like they say can happen….nope, an even higher level of PAIN is experienced!  Makes me shiver just thinking about it while I write this, then the moment that all the cancer radiation patients had been doing while I was there…..ringing the bell that is hanging on the wall after your FINAL treatment.  Most give the thing a little plunk or maybe two….me, I let loose on that little bell a beautiful song that rang rapid, loud and long with beautiful rhythm.

August 21, 2015 two a day internal radiation appointments for five days……sounds like quick and easy, right….well, now we have discovered that there is a nerve that is located at the edge of the Savi device tail.  Ohmygoodness!

August 20, 2015 today, my Oncology Surgeon changed the Balloon device to the Savi device.  Extreem PAIN!  We stopped by Panera Bread for a quick bite of soup.  Then my Radiology Specialist Doctor appointment where with the help of a MRI the Savi device was repositioned……and I thought that the earlier event was the most painful ever…now I have a new most painful moment.

August 13, 2015, Cancer Lumpectomy Surgery date!  Today an Oncology Surgeon performed a lumpectomy to remove the cancer from my breast.  She implanted a balloon and catheter for the anticipation of internal radiation with a Savi Device.

July 6th 2015 Early morning appointment with Oncology surgeon, Oldest grandson is left in charge of his sisters back at our place to feed them breakfast cereal.  I get the news of what my options are for removing the cancer and take brochures home to read.  Go home and load the four grandchildren in the car and set out for a week vacation in Branson.  No time to stress, only time to step-up on responsibility.

July 4th, 2015,  Wedding day for step-daughter. Not a moment to think or rest.

July 3rd 215 Dress rehearsal for step-daughter's wedding and the dinner. Food to be made in the early hours, pack the car with all the boxes of decorations and help set up the church with all the decorations.  Step-daughter and all four of her girls come home to our place to stay for the night before the wedding.

July 2nd 2015.   Phone call from my medical doctor’s office giving me the results of my second mammogram….well, when I answered the phone and the Doctor herself was on the phone, I knew right then that this was not going to be good news.  She said that I had carcinoma of the right breast. That it was in stage 0  grade 3, which was very good that I needed to schedule a meeting with an Oncology Surgeon to discuss my options.

June 6, 2013 - Always growing, developing new skills and techniques, I am beginning a new faze.  Oil Painting on Copper!  This is something I worked with way back in college days.  Completed a few paintings on Copper, gave them to a friend.  I don't even have a picture of the final products.  I have collected a few pieces of Copper to paint on over the last couple of years.  Funny thing is I just now found those supplies in a drawer tucked away for when I felt motivated to move in that direction.  Well folks, now is the time.  I am pushing through the coridor toward Oil on Copper .  I'm sure I will still paint on canvas; but I'm totally stoked for the day when I can paint a Mule on Copper.
Along with this change, I am determined to put my traveling easle to work!  Plein Aire adventures in painting outdoors on site should be exciting for sure. I have been inspired to start painting "en plein aire" and to do this along with a daily blog.  This page will become my blog soon as I am asking my web engineer to give me the upgrade.  By the way, "plein aire" is a French term, "to paint the atmosphere of light". I'm always excited with new adventures.  I invite you to follow along come back to view, email comments, purchase paintings and send requests as I share my passion for painting with Oil Paints with you.
